Aigues Mortes

Aigues Mortes

On Thursday, 10-Sep-2015, the noice of the traffic wakes us, besides that we have spent a quiet night. Our dog likes the surrounding, so we let Dexter rollick outside.

At 10 o'clock, after breakfast, we cast off and  travel the few remaining kilometers to Aigues Mortes and arrive after 90 minutes.

Here only a few of the moorings reserved for guests are used. After a long walk with the dog we use the bikes we rent for the first time to do some shopping to fill up our stocks.

Later on we walk through the ancient town and eat some delicious  scoops of ice cream. And we find a butcher and a baker.

Towards evening there seem to be no moorings left, when about 19.00h, short before nightfall, a big boat arrives. There is not enough place for this boat because the distances between some ships are rather big. I persuade the crew of one boat to move it some meters to the left, so the last boat with a family with three children on it can stay in the harbour. Somehow the skipper has got to know, that I 've made it possible and he comes to me to shake my hand.

After supper we go once more into the city to enjoy the vibes of Aigues Mortes with a beer or a glass of orangina.

The following night for me is rather short, because Dexter wakes me up at 3.00h, the dog has diarrhoea. Thanks god we reach the banks of Canal de Rhone in time. Because of Dexters problems our plan to leave Aigues Mortes early in the morning to arrive in Frontignan before 16 o'clock is blocked. I have to go to the supermarket by bike to buy rice for the dog.
