Lagina – Marmaris – Rhodes

01.03.2016 Lagina – Marmaris – Rhodes

Todays first target is Lagina, the sanctuary of  Hekate, the goddess of magic and witchcraft. This excarvation is located near Turgut, 15 kilometers northwest of the town Yatağan. The dimensions of this temple complex is impressive and you can imaging the size and outline of it, but there are no preserved or reconstructed buildings.

After lunch we go to marmaris, where we have to pass the Turkish customs, before we take the ferry to Rhodes. The ferry is a Greek floating death trap named "Sea Dreams". The passage lasts about two hours with little swell, but many passengers bring up their food.  After arrival we pass the Greek customs and then we go by bus to the 5-star-hotel  „Rhodos Palace“.

Here we have not much time to settle down, because the tavern  „Nikolas House“ in Pastida near  Rhodos-town is awaiting us at 8:00 pm for a "Greek night".

The entrance fee and the costs for local drinks and small nibblings are included in the additional services "discoverer". After all tourists are seated, we listen to traditional Greek music (live) while some ladies and gentlemen dressed in traditional clothes mingled with the audience. The greek gentlemen are posing for a photo with our ladies, the greek ladies do the same with our men. We can buy the resulting photos at the end of the "Greek night" for 4€ each..

Finally the „Rhodian Dancers“ (http://rhodiandancers.com/en/our-team/) presents the audience some traditional dances. In the middle and at the end of the show the audience is invited to join the dancing. Overall a great evening.

At the end of this evening we meet some other couples in the hotel bar. The nice keyboard-player can play music for Discofox, Cha Cha and waltz, so we enjoy to dance to it. We also have fun with the Greek bar-maid Joanna, our "Schatzi" .

The evening lasts a little bit longer, but we don't have to get up early next morning.
