Selcuk & Sirince

05.03.2016 jewelry- and leather-manufactory, Basilica of John the apostel, citadel of Selcuk and the wine village Sirince

At the carpet weaving mills it was easy to keep to an common NO. In the jewelry manufactory (a rather big shop with many employees) it is much more difficult to keep to this common line. As in the carpet weaving mill they first demonstrate us their craftsmanship, then we come to the jewelry and to the sale. The tactic here is the same as at the carpets -  at first fluent German speaking personal advisers who care about cleaning the jewelry of our women, who care for our well-being with drinks and they are perfectly trained to suit the taste of the women, so the offered selection at last receives the women's acceptance. Do you approve to purchase one or two rings, the designer of the rings joins us and has convincing arguments how much better the ring would look if you would add a brillant ...

After the jewelry manufactory we visit a leather manufactory. Leggy models display a part of the impressive collection and the don't forget to take some of us on the catwalk to ease the visitors. Apart from that the tactics are the same as at the jewelry manufactory.

All of these manufactories have in common that there products are very good and the prices are okay - if you don't forget to haggle. Besides that you always can say "NO".

After the shopping quest it's time for culture again. We go on to Selcuk to the remains of the basilica of John the apostel supposedly built upon his grave. Serap leads us to the Gate of Persecution, the nave with funerary chamber and the baptistery.

Then we can explore the citadel of Selcuk from where we have a good view over town and country.

After lunch we visit the wine village Sirince. On the weekend much people are here, but in the presaison it's bearable. We will remember the tasty ice-cream from goat's milk (strange consistency) and that one glass of simple red table wine in a simple local restaurant was rather expensive (5€).

This day ends in the hotel "Le Bleu" we already know from the start of our journey. It's a pity, but the service at supper today is not so good as last week. It seem's that all employees are needed for a large party of a company, so this time the buffet dinner is readily comprehensible.
